ensuring

Usability research is a method by which online user experiences are evaluated. It informs the development of a technology or design, to ensure it is as user-friendly as possible.

Research participants are recruited according to specific criteria, by specialist recruiters.

Usability research is conducted using

  • one-to-one ‘usability plus©’ interviews. Face to face and about an hour long, including discussion and testing of various aspects using
    pre-defined tasks
  • paired ‘usability plus©’ interviews. As above but with two people where it is preferable to have input from both, e.g. husband and wife, parent and child, business partners
  • remote usability interviews. Conducted over the phone using technology enabling the researcher to view the participant’s computer screen. Great for geographically diverse audiences or when there’s a need to minimise travel costs
  • group discussions
